What if I didn’t get the GCSE (Level 2) results I was expecting?

The Department for Education has put together some guidance (see here).  This includes a range of options that are open to pupils and further areas of support if pupils have not gained the results they were expecting.  Mr Brown and the Sixth Form team will be processing admissions from tomorrow at 9.00 until midday.

Post Results Queries and Services

Should you be unhappy with a result, you can consider the following:

  1. Talk to a member of staff on the day about how far you are away from a grade boundary.
  2. Access to your script – this enables you and / or a teacher to assess where marks might be found (Form 1).
  3. If your teacher is in agreement, you may then consider a Review of Marking (Form 2).

Guidance can be found in the booklet and on the relevant forms below.  Please also complete the attached form here and Ms DeSouza will contact you to explain the payment process and which forms need to be completed.  Forms 1 and 2 are also attached to this page. For Year 13 pupils, either by choice or circumstance, may need to go through Clearing to secure a place at university.  We encourage parents, carers, and students to read through the information (see here) to better understand what Clearings is and the processes involved.

The school will also review the marks that your child and others have achieved and will advise candidates if we feel there is an anomaly and that the paper should be reviewed.  If we are concerned about results received for a particular subject, the school itself will request a review of marking of all those papers (with the candidate’s consent).
