PSHE
PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education) covers a variety of topics that can be categorised into three groups:
- Health and Well-being
- Relationships
- Living in the Wider World
At Baylis Court School, PSHE is delivered in a number of ways:
1. PSHE Lessons
Year 7-9: Pupils have a one hour PSHE lesson every fortnight.
Year 10-13: On a Friday (Week A) tutor time is extended so that pupils have a 30 minute PSHE lesson with their form tutor – 8:30-9:00am.
2. Deeper Learning Days
Pupils take part in three deeper learning days throughout the year. The 2021-2022 dates are:
30th November
9th March
13th July – Sports Day (Health & Well-being)
3. Assemblies
Pupils will have a Hall assembly led by a member of the Senior Team or Head of Department on a variety of topics including protected characteristics, British values, etc.
4. Tutor Time
Once per fortnight pupils spend tutor time learning about British Values. Tutors will lead discussions on current issues in the news.
5. Lessons
PSHE is taught discretely in all subjects. This is documented in department schemes of learning.
6. Careers Programme
Our careers programme covers most of the content for ‘Living in the Wider World’. Please see the Careers section of our website for more information.
7. Student leadership opportunities
There are a variety of opportunities for pupils to take on a leadership role at Baylis, such as Student Leadership Award, Student Subject Leadership, Student Leadership Team.
8. Co-curricular activities
We offer a variety of clubs, trips and other enrichment opportunities to encourage independence, team work and a healthy lifestyle.
