PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education) covers a variety of topics that can be categorised into three groups:
- Health and Well-being
- Living in the Wider World
At Baylis Court School, PSHE is delivered in a number of ways:
1. PSHE Lessons
On a Friday (Week A) tutor time is extended so that pupils have a 30 minute PSHE lesson with their form tutor – 8:30-9:00am.
2. Deeper Learning Days
Pupils take part in three deeper learning days throughout the year. The 2019-2020 dates are:
14th July – Sports Day (Health & Well-being)
Pupils will have a Hall assembly led by a member of the Senior Team or Head of Department on a variety of topics.
4. Tutor Time
Once per fortnight pupils spend tutor time learning about British Values. Tutors will lead discussions on current issues in the news and contextual safeguarding.
PSHE is taught discretely in all subjects. This is documented in department schemes of work.
6. Careers Programme
Our careers programme covers most of the content for ‘Living in the Wider World’. Please see the Careers section of our website for more information.
7. Student leadership opportunities
There are a variety of opportunities for pupils to take on a leadership role at Baylis – Head Girls, Student Voice Captain, Form Captains, Slough Youth Parliament and Pupil Subject Leaders.
Our enrichment programme covers a variety of activities to encourage independence, team work and a healthy lifestyle.
