Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award at Baylis Court School provides a balanced programme of activities that develop the whole person in an environment of social interaction and team working.

We offer opportunities for students to gain their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, application packs can be found in the packs attached at the bottom of this page.

Please click here for some ideas to help you complete each section. These activities could take place in school as long as they are outside normal lessons. Activities you do outside of school could also count towards the different sections. Choose activities that motivate you and go on your own personal journey.

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh

BronzeAward Timescale

It will usually take you at least 6 months to complete your Bronze programme.

– Volunteering section: 3 months
– Physical section: 3 months
– Skills section: 3 months
– Expedition section: 2 days/1 night

You also have to spend an extra three months on one of the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections. It’s your choice which one and, though you can change your mind later, you should decide which section you want to do for longer at the beginning. Knowing how long you’re going to do it for will help you to choose your activity and set your goals for each section.

Commitment & Cost

Although students will receive support from our DofE coordinator Mr Docherty, we would like to remind you that, as this is an extra-curricular activity, we expect students, as well as parents/carers, to ensure that the different sections are completed and they are done so on time.

Please ensure that your child is committed to completing all four parts of the Award. If you start the award in September we would expect you to have completed the Physical, Skills and Volunteering sections by May.
